Day 1 — March 3: Arrival in Accra
Welcome to Ghana! Arrive at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, where you will receive a meet and greet before being transferred to your hotel.
Check in, settle in and enjoy the evening at leisure as you prepare for your Ghana @ 70 Grand Experience.
Overnight: Ibis Styles Accra Airport or similar.
Day 2 — March 4: Accra City & Heritage Tour
Discover Ghana’s capital and explore the history behind the country’s journey through independence and nationhood.
Experience important historical, cultural and national landmarks while getting to know the city that will be at the heart of Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary.
The day’s programme provides an introduction to Accra’s heritage, people and culture as excitement builds toward the March 6 anniversary.
Day 3 — March 5: Ghanaian Culture, Drumming, Dancing & Accra by Night
Theme: Ghanaian Culture, Music & Nightlife
Enjoy leisure time before experiencing Ghanaian rhythm and culture through traditional drumming and interactive dancing.
Later, enjoy dinner and experience Accra after dark through live entertainment, music and the city’s vibrant Afrobeats atmosphere.
🇬🇭 Day 4 — March 6: Ghana @ 70 Independence Day Experience
THE CENTERPIECE OF YOUR JOURNEY
Today marks a historic milestone: 70 years since Ghana gained independence on March 6, 1957.
You will spend this important day in Accra, experiencing the atmosphere surrounding Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary and joining Ghanaians and visitors in commemorating this historic occasion.
The day’s programme will be coordinated around officially announced anniversary activities and publicly accessible events. Specific activities, locations and access arrangements will be confirmed as Ghana’s official anniversary programme becomes available.
March 6 in Accra is a central part of the Ghana @ 70 Grand Experience.
Day 5 — March 7: Aburi Botanical Gardens & Eastern Ghana
Theme: Nature & Relaxation
After the excitement of Independence Day, depart Accra by road for the scenic hills of Aburi.
Enjoy panoramic views along the journey and visit the historic Aburi Botanical Gardens for a guided walk among tropical plants and trees, with opportunities for photography.
Visit a local craft centre and experience more of the Eastern Region before returning to Accra by road for the evening.
Overnight: Accra.
Day 6 — March 8: Free Day, Shopping & Leisure in Accra
Enjoy a flexible day in Accra before beginning the Northern Ghana portion of your journey.
Explore shopping areas, discover African fashion and arts and crafts, visit restaurants, relax at your hotel or spend time with family and friends.
This day also provides time to relax, pack and prepare for your flight to Northern Ghana.
Day 7 — March 9: Fly from Accra to Tamale & Discover Northern Ghana
Transfer to Kotoka International Airport for your domestic flight from Accra to Tamale.
Upon arrival in Tamale, begin your Northern Ghana experience and discover the city’s distinctive culture, architecture and way of life through a city and cultural tour.
Planned highlights include central Tamale, Red Clay Studio, local cultural interaction and a Northern Ghanaian culinary experience.
Settle into your accommodation and enjoy the atmosphere of Ghana’s northern region.
Overnight: Hotel Zosimli Tamale or similar.
Day 8 — March 10: Mole National Park Safari, Mognori Eco Village & Larabanga Area
Set out for one of the most memorable days of the Ghana @ 70 Grand Experience as you explore the wildlife, landscapes and community life of Northern Ghana.
Visit Mole National Park for a guided safari with opportunities to observe elephants and other wildlife in their natural environment. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Continue to Mognori Eco Village for a community-based cultural experience and an introduction to traditional local life.
Depending on final arrangements and availability, optional activities may include a canoe experience or cultural performance.
The day’s programme also includes a planned visit in the Larabanga area.
Return arrangements: Return ground transportation and the included domestic flight back to Accra will be coordinated according to the confirmed flight schedule and final tour arrangements. The precise timing and sequence of the day’s activities are therefore subject to final confirmation.
Day 9 — March 11: Departure
Enjoy breakfast and prepare for departure. Airport transfer arrangements will be coordinated for your onward international journey as your Ghana @ 70 Grand Experience comes to an end.
